performance > a little swamp romance / shadow puppetry / miami international book fair

What began with a simple shadow puppet performance became full scale production, blending props, live action, music, dance and narrative, and overhead projection effects. It has become a community and collaborative effort I never thought possible, and so much fun.

A Little Swamp Romance Press release from 2015 performance-
"Once upon a time…in a land very near…was a swamp that was not actually a swamp but a living river. . .”
Join Alma Dance Theatre and Christina Pettersson for a vaudeville-esque three screen extravaganza utilizing shadow puppetry, slide projection, live dance, live narration, and musical accompaniment by Shira Abergel in this charming example of magical-realism. This Everglades version of Homer's The Odyssey stars Eli Peck as Aloysius the Alligator, and features Cristy Almaida, Shaun Wright and Dan Walker on overhead projection. Select imagery via Obsolete Media Miami.

Screenings-
2015 November- The Miami International Book Fair's local's only Swamp Tent, Funded by the Knight Foundation.
2016 December- The Miami-Beach Public Library, in conjunction with Art Basel, through the City of Miami Beach, Cultural Affairs Program, Cultural Arts Council.
